Washington D.C. Bike Station
The $4 million Bicycle Transit Center is neatly wedged on a traffic island between two Daniel Burnham masterpieces, the National Postal Museum and Union Station. The facility offers storage for 150 bikes, changing rooms, and a rental and repair space. Riders can park their bikes at the facility for $1 a day and have access between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.; for $100 a year, they get 24-hour access.

PAPER BAGS: Within paper bags dwell the Bag Mice. They are small and camouflaged to be the same color as the bag, so they are hard to see. But you can easily hear the crinkling noises they make as they scurry around the bag. Anything, up to and including shredding the bag, can be done to kill them. Note: any other cat you may find in a bag hunting for Bag Mice is fair game for a Sneak Attack, which will usually result in a great Tag match.

Phillip Toledano’s Phonesex project reveals not just the identity of operators who answer the phone when you call a 1-900 number, but their desires, fears, motivations, and most memorable calls.
The images and text in this photo essay are taken from the book Phonesex, which was published in September 2008 by Twin Palms.

“Just last night I received possibly the most disturbing phone sex call I’d had in a long time.
A caller shot himself with me on the phone.
Things like this always scare me.
My current track record stands at one confession of incestuous sexual abuse, and two other suicides.”

Karl Bushby is walking to his house in Hull, England. And because he likes a challenge, the 40-year-old ex-paratrooper has started from the most remote point possible: Punta Arenas in southern Chile, whence he set out on Nov. 1, 1998.
The 36,000-mile journey was to take 14 years, putting Bushby back in Hull by 2012. He’s got safely across the Bering Strait, but Russian visa restrictions have slowed him down, and once he reaches Kazakhstan he may pass south into Iran, which will bring its own adventures.  [more],[more]
